Steve Sollitt works locally for the NHS as a Management Accountant and has an in-depth understanding of the problems in the health service.

In 1997 Steve stood in Portsmouth North and in 2001 in Basingstoke. In nearby Eastleigh, Steve worked with David Chidgey before and during the 2001 General Election. In 2005 Steve was Candidate in Southampton Test where is narrowly missed taking second palce from the Tories in the once safe Conservative seat. The Liberal Democrats achieved a swing of nearly 7% all at the expense of Labour

Steve is presently a City Councillor for Portswood and is Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, forming part of the seven strong Cabinet in Southampton

Living and working locally in the heart of the community of Southampton Test has helped Steve to understand the problems that affect us all every day. People have been telling Steve of their anger with the present Labour Government and their concerns that the Tories are no better and would attack public services. More and more people are switching to the Liberal Democrats because they need a party who are a REAL alternative.

He has a wide experience of dealing with the media from written press releases through radio interviews and live television experience. He has spoken to a wide variety of audiences from school children to hostile residents, groups of 30 to 300.
