Sollitt welcomes Central Station improvements but wants action at Local Stations in City12.57.06pm UTC (GMT +0000) Sun 19th Nov 2006
Steve Sollitt, Liberal Democrat Campaigner for Southampton Test and Councillor for Portswood has welcomed the combined working of the Liberal Democrat run City Council and South West Trains in completing the works to improve Southampton Central Railway Station. Steve said "I welcome this work at Central Station, providing improvements to both the structure but also the surrounding area. However I will now be asking South West Trains to look at other local stations in the city, including St Denys, as many of these are uninviting, looking run down and put people off using them. These stations are vital links to residents who use them to commute into the city centre and also to join trains to the north , east and west
