Steve Sollitt, newly elected councillor for Portswood and Campaigner for Southampton Test has welcomed the news that the Liberal Democrats are back in charge for another year.

"Following the elections, which left the city with all three political parties with 16 seats, there were fears of a stale mate between the three groups. It has take a while but I believe that in that time we have delivered the best possible result for the city, allowing the Liberal Democrats to continue the good work they have been doing across the City over the last three years"

"I have had a quick education to the way the city runs and I am frustrated that the Tories felt that tossing a coin was a good way to resolve the issue, the city needs good governance and stability, thankfully it has that again"
