Pensioners £200 worse off

Southampton's pensioners will be at least £200 a year worse off after Chancellor Gordon Brown scrapped the £200 Council Tax rebate he issued before the General Election last year.

Steve Sollitt, Liberal Democrat Campaigner for Southampton Test said, "I know many pensioners are upset and angry by the scrapping of this rebate. Clearly it was used only as a sweetener before last years General Election. Its time this government did the right thing and scrapped this unfair tax altogether"
