A recent Unite/Mori Poll, carried out in January has revealed that it is the Liberal Democrats who are the party supported by the most students.

The poll shows that whilst Labour support has fallen 8% from 36% to 28% and the Tories haven fallen by 5% from 24% to 19% it is the Liberal Democrats who have increased in popularity by 11% from 23% to 34%.

Steve Sollitt, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Southampton Test said "This is a clear indication that students are fully aware of our strong polices on scrapping student fees. There is a clear move to the Liberal Democrats amongst the student population".

The figures were released on the day of the launch of the Southampton University Liberal Democrats Society.

Steve added "I am pleased that the Party now has a student society at the University. It is clear that it is only the Liberal Democrats that can be trusted on the issues that concern students"
